University of Brighton

We are currently working with the University of Brighton to develop a product that will manage their Partnership processes online for their Initial Training Education placements. This system is fully bespoke and tailored exactly to their needs.

Like many Initial Teacher Training providers in the United Kingdom, Brighton University believed existing database and placement systems didn’t cater adequately for the Teacher Training market.

Rather than try and force their placement mechanisms into one of these existing ‘off the shelf’ systems, John Smith, Assistant Head of School decided to get in contact with place-me for a completely bespoke online cloud system. John also thought it was equally important to give Partnership Schools and mentors access to the same resources and materials online in order to better support students on placement.

The project started with the idea that their processes could be streamlined by designing an online system for managing Partnership information. The primary aims of the project were to:

  • Reduce the amount of paperwork coming into the office each year by asking stakeholders to enter information online rather than on paper
  • Diminish the need for time consuming data entry work to allow the team to focus on other priorities
  • Develop a complete online database solution to help them manage their information more effectively

During the early stages of the project the team held a series of meetings with the University of Brighton to identify the specific requirements for their bespoke system. The key to the success of the project was regular testing throughout each design stage.
